Thread Veins

Facial thread veins are broken blood vessels which occur when the blood vessel is enlarged or dilated beneath the skins surface. Through the years skin also thins and there these dilated vessels are more visible. Small, red lines appear and can spread out into a wedge-shaped form.

The main cause of broken blood vessels is sun exposure and damage. Sun exposure can enlarge the blood vessel, thin skin, drawing them closer to the surface, particularly forming around the nose and cheeks. Broken blood vessels can also be down to genetics or underlaying rosacea (redness) in the skin.

Rosacea is becoming a more widely known skin condition with most of us experiencing some sort of redness or impaired barrier function in skin. Rosacea can appear in many different forms the main one being general facial redness or flushing and visible blood vessels.

Lumenis IPL (Intense Pulsed Light )

A series of treatments can be required over 4-6 weeks apart for rosacea however thread veins can be treated in as little as 1 or 2 sessions. Immediately after treatment some redness and sensitivity may be experienced this will usually fade away within a day or two. Sunscreen is advised for continues use after treatment.

Thermavein®

Thermavein® is the safest, permanent treatment for telangiectasia, more commonly referred to as broken Thread Veins or Spider Veins. We have chosen to use ThermaVein® technology at the clinic as it has quickly become the acclaimed thread and spider vein treatment by healthcare professionals worldwide, thanks to its impressive results. Additionally, it offers a fast and effective walk-in, walk-out comprehensive solution for the treatment of red spots, troublesome red veins and vascular blemishes.

ThermaVein® uses a process known as Thermocoagulation to seal the thread vein walls, causing them to instantly and permanently disappear. The sterile needle, for single use, is covered with an insulating sheath which protects the skin, enabling a targeted action, delivering the treatment with precision.
The simple difference between Thermavein and its competitors is that a very low current of 4MHz is used during treatment. The low current and the fact that it does not treat the blood means ThermaVein is extremely safe, simple and delivers immediate results. Unlike IPL and Lasers, ThermaVein® cannot cause loss of pigmentation.

Suitable for men and women, this pioneering treatment can be used on different face and body areas and it is commonly used in conjunction with Sclerotherapy to treat the legs.  Priced at £180 per area.
